A guide to Instagram data available to Lexer

Lexer integrates directly with both the Pages and Marketing APIs provided by Facebook (Facebook own Instagram). In this article, we’ll explain what data we currently support through these APIs, and how they might impact your work in Lexer.

Instagram for Service

Lexer can monitor posts, comments, and @mentions of your integrated Instagram Business account. You can also subscribe to #hashtags for monitoring on behalf of your integrated accounts.

Instagram Business Accounts

You can integrate your Instagram Business Account with Lexer to monitor your posts, comments and mentions of your account in Listen or Engage. Connecting with Instagram requires that your account has been upgraded to an Instagram Business Account.

Once your account has been integrated with Lexer, we can consume the following:

  • Posts from your account
  • Comments on your posts
  • @mentions or @tags of your account
  • Ad Posts and Comments (requires Facebook Ad account)

Instagram does not support monitoring:

  • Direct messages

Lexer can consume public Instagram posts that include a hashtag Lexer is actively monitoring. The hashtag must be used at time of publishing for Lexer to consume it. If the hashtag is added retrospectively, Lexer will not consume the post. You can subscribe to monitor hashtags from Integrate using your integrated Instagram Business account.

Instagram for Marketing

Using Lexer, you can send Custom Audiences for marketing on Instagram, via a linked Facebook Page. These audiences require a Facebook Business Manager account to be integrated with Lexer.

Lexer Outbox and Instagram

There is no Outbox support for publishing Instagram Posts, as this functionalityto publish content to Instagram via a 3rd party like Lexer is in a closed beta. Lexer will support this as soon as it becomes available.

Lexer Activate and Instagram

All Instagram marketing is now housed within Facebook Business Manager. With an integrated Facebook Ads account, you can send a custom audience list to your Facebook Business Manager account from Lexer Activate. You can learn more about activating an Instagram audience to Facebook in this article: run a campaign on Instagram

Facebook currently supports matching on the following data points:

  • Email SHA256
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Gender
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • City
  • State
  • Country
  • ZIP / Postcode

Facebook supports multi-matching, which means when an Activation is created for your account in Lexer Activate, we will include all available data points, to ensure your match rate to Facebook is as high as possible.
