How to use the Spend Decile attribute in segments
Spend Decile is a really handy attribute to use when you want to segment your customers based on their spend. For example, you could create a new segment for high-value lapsed customers using Spend Decile. This segment is a great one to activate for your retention campaigns.
To build this segment, firstly, you want to find your ‘lapsed’ customers, and for this example we're going to define ‘lapsed’ as anyone who hasn’t made a purchase in over 24 months.
To do so, head to Understand > Segment and then add the Last Order: Date attribute to the BUT NOT HAVE ANY OF THESE section of the builder. Then filter for anyone who has made a purchase In the last >24 months. You do this because you want to exclude anyone who has made a purchase in the last 24 months and only see customers who haven’t made a purchase within this period.
Now, you want to add ‘high-value’ into the mix. To find these customers, add Spend Decile to the PROFILES MUST HAVE ALL OF THESE section of the builder, and filter for Between > 7 to 10. These are your top 40%.
Hit Search and these are your high-value, lapsed customers, and this segment is now ready to go!
