How to use the Average Discount Percent attribute for analysis
Using the Average Discount Percent attribute for analysis in Compare is a great way to get insights into your customers spending habits.
For example, you might like to see which of your customers are more likely to use discounts based on their generation. To find this insight, navigate to Compare and then select Attribute comparison.
From here, select the following two attributes:
- Average Discount Percent
- Generation
Then click Generate Comparison.
Now you can run some analysis on the comparison that's been returned. For example, in the screenshot above we can see that our Gen X customers use discounts at a much higher rate than our Baby Boomer, or Millennial customers.
You might also like to compare average discount percent against average order value to see the distribution of discount against spending.
In the example above we can see that our mid-tier spenders (those whose average order value is $100 - $250) tend to also have a discount percent between 5% and 20%. Whereas our high-value customers (those with an order value of $250 or more) tend not to use discounts as much.
